As part of the Peace IV Programme strand “Building Positive Relations”, two stained glass windows have been created which promote the makers and Council’s readiness for a more peaceful and reconciled society between neighbours and with residents and visitors to the area.
They were made by people from the Lisburn and Castlereagh Council and Antrim and Newtownabbey Council working with the charity the Institute for Conflict Research on the programmes “Growing Understanding” and “Understanding Cultures through Art”. They are intended to show through creativity and working together that experiences of racism and anti-Semitism can lead to genocide and that social inclusion and a peaceful society is the shared aim of the participants.
